For this newsletter, I wanted to do something a little different. No products, no sales, just a milestone I wish to celebrate. Recently, Chris Stotts completed his 20th year at Telaeris, having been with us almost since our inception.

Chris during his first week at Telaeris, in our original warehouse
|
Back in 2006, the first project Chris worked on was a business-critical web database system. The fact that it is still being actively used speaks to the resiliency of the work he delivers.
And today, if you use XPressEntry, you are using an architecture that Chris has been instrumental in creating. He does a tremendous amount of work that is invisible, yet critical to our operation:
- Ensuring full backwards compatibility
- Optimizing handheld update speed
- Testing and hardening data security
- Building infrastructure support
Chris was hired as a software engineer, but now I’m not quite sure what the right title would be for his business card. Dot.Net Developer. Database Admin. Full Stack Web Guy. Tinkerer. Trade Show Salesperson. Firmware Engineer. Code Therapist. Customer Support Technician. AI Whisperer. Software Architect. It is wonderful to have someone who can fill so many seats. Telaeris is a better company because he has worked here.
In a recent company chat, Chris wrote:
“In case you can’t tell, I love working here. It’s the people at Telaeris that have kept it interesting and fun for the last 20 years.”
That meant a lot to me. We will certainly do our best to keep it that way.
Chris – thank you for your friendship, commitment, and everything you have done to help make Telaeris into what it is today. I’m glad to have had you along for the ride.
– Dave

At most airports, security teams patrolling SIDA-restricted areas don’t have an easy way to validate a badge or verify permissions in the field. As a result, officers are limited to a visual check and/or a call back to the SOC to confirm the badge is still active. A major airport in South Florida closed that gap by implementing XPressEntry handheld readers integrated directly into its existing Acre Matrix Frontier access control system, giving officers on patrol the power to validate badges and verify permissions on the spot.

What is Wiegand? There is a good chance that if you ask two access control / physical security professionals, you will get completely different answers. Join our CEO DR. David Carta on a fun journey as he traces down what Wiegand really is, its history, its many meanings, the transformative standard that came out of it, and unpacks what Wiegand means today.

Introducing XPressEntry SMS Self Mustering. In addition to scanning badges and / or biometrics at assembly areas / muster points from XPressEntry handheld readers, employees and visitors can now confirm their safety in an emergency evacuation by responding to automated text messages on their personal phone from XPressEntry. Verify that everyone has been accounted for in a real emergency, especially when employees and visitors did not evacuate to designated assembly areas / muster points or completely left the facility.
