| I love walking the floor at ISC West to see the latest in security tech. For a couple years now, “AI” has been the buzzword everyone wanted to talk about. However, ISCWest 2026 was the first year I saw demos that actually wowed me.

Acre Access Control showed a beautiful natural language interface to their PACS. You could say “add cardholder John Smith with badge #1000, All Access” and it just worked. Beakon used AI to turn messy first-responder radio traffic into clean transcripts with actionable suggestions. And many companies had perimeter video analytic systems that intelligently and automatically flagged real anomalies.
What struck me about every AI system was that they were built to have their output confirmed by a human. You certainly don’t want your system mishearing FUN for GUN, seeing someone taking out the trash and thinking they are stealing company equipment, or letting the wrong “John Smith” into a secure facility. We’ve seen the need for AI confirmation at Telaeris too. While AI has been an accelerator for us, when it screws up, they can be doozies. When your product protects people like ours does, you can’t afford mistakes like these.
That’s why we’ve been deliberate about thinking where AI will show up in our software. We have a few features in our pipeline, but I want to hear from you: where should we put AI to work in XPressEntry and just as importantly, where should we keep it out?
I don’t know about you, but I’m excited about the possibilities of AI in our industry and beyond. What a great time to be alive!

We are excited to introduce XPressEntry Guard Tour, a major expansion of the XPressEntry platform that brings patrol tracking, checkpoint verification, GPS visibility, and incident reporting directly into the same great XPressEntry handheld solution security teams already trust in the field. Rather than adding separate devices or disconnected systems, organizations can now manage guard tour operations from one unified platform.
With XPressEntry Guard Tour, teams can configure scheduled patrol routes from the XPressEntry Web Console, verify checkpoint completion using RFID, NFC, QR codes, or barcodes, document incidents in real time with photos, video, audio, and notes, and continue patrols even when offline with automatic sync once connectivity is reestablished. By associating patrols with guard badge login, the system delivers a verified audit trail of who completed each patrol and when.
The result is a more consistent, accountable, and efficient approach to guard operations, all within the XPressEntry ecosystem. It is a smarter way to extend existing deployments while improving visibility across patrol activity and incident response.

What is a Guard Tour System?
A guard tour system tracks and verifies that security guards complete assigned patrol routes. A typical guard tour system consists of physical checkpoints placed throughout a facility and a method for guards to log their visits and inspections at each location. The best system should give security managers visibility into when patrols are completed, notify them of incidents, and ensure accountability across their team.
In this blog, learn about the different types of guard tour systems available and key factors to consider when deciding between systems.
