XPressEntry Troubleshooting Guide – Connecting Handheld

Overview

This is a step-by-step guide to connecting your handheld on XPressEntry.
Please refer to the video along with the step installation below.

Requirements

XPressEntry Installation
XPressEntry Prerequisites
XPressEntry license (provided by sales representative)

Install Steps

  1. Open Windows Defender Firewall.
  2. New Inbound Rule -> “Port” -> “TCP” & “Specific Local Ports (30000, 30001)” -> “Allow the Connection” -> Leave all checked -> Name – “XPressEntry Server”.
  3. XPressEntry Server – Tools -> Settings -> Server
    • ✘ Use Legacy HTTP Server
    • ✓ Enable HTTPS
    • SSL Websocket
  4. Certificate -> “Select from Store” -> “XPressEntryService” or certificate of your choice -> “OK” -> “Use This Certificate”.
  5. Command Prompt (run as admin) -> Right-Click.
  6. Services -> Restart “XPressEntryService”.
  7. Two methods of Connecting Handheld:
    1. Manual Device Registration (Least Secure)
      Handheld –
      – Enter IP Address to server, Login/Password (default: admin / Telaeris1!)
      – Use HTTPS
      – Connect
    2. Set Number of Devices and register handhelds as you go (more secure)
      XPressEntry Server –
      – “Tools” -> “Add Handheld Wizard”
      – “Set Number of Devices and register handhelds as you go (more secure)”
      – Number of New Devices – #
      – Reader Profile: “Default”
      – “Select the IP or Hostname below for: [insert IP address]
      – Double-click QR Code (Double-click again to remove)Handheld –
      – Use HTTPS 
      – “Quick Setup QR Code”
      – Scan QR Code

If connected successfully, handheld should be syncing and be greeted with an “Entry Mode – PRESENT BADGE”.
