Summer is here and BBQs are in full swing! Earlier this year we announced a new facial recognition verification system on XPressEntry handheld badge and biometric readers. We are very excited about this new technology. It comes at a great time when facial recognition accuracy is hitting new highs and provides security and safety professionals great benefits including:
Greater Convenience – Workers and visitors are quickly verified even in situations where badges are lost, forgotten, or inaccessible.
Multi-Factor Authentication – Facial biometric verification can be used alongside existing credentials to more highly ensure identity for restricted areas and to prevent unauthorized card access.
Accelerate Emergency Mustering – At assembly areas, groups of faces can be rapidly scanned, quickly providing an accurate account of who has been safely evacuated.
XPressEntry uses existing employee photos from your access control system to create a facial recognition database which is stored locally on the handheld reader. When performing facial recognition, the camera captures images of any faces in view. These faces are then compared to the stored facial template information to confirm identity. This new facial recognition technology works in parallel with XPressEntry’s existing fingerprint matching and industry leading support for security badge technologies.
