October 2023

A NOTE FROM THE CEO

October means Fall colors and Halloween decorations going up around the neighborhoods and offices here in the United States. It has also been a time to visit our customers, access control suppliers, and security integrators. In the past month, our staff has made numerous visits to see partners and friends all around the world. Internationally, we visited Peru, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Here in the United States, we have visited customers in three states with plans for three more visits in November. Below is our VP of Sales, Jose Flores, visiting our security integrator partner, Innovative-NET, from Mexico, just a couple weeks ago.

One of the great things about our business is we often get opportunities to sit around tables with friends to brainstorm with our partners. If you are interested in having us visit you and discover ways to better work together to solve your customer problems, let us know!

Warm wishes from San Diego,

Dr. David Carta

Chemical Plant Facial Recognition Case Study with XPressEntry + LenelS2 OnGuard

Introduction

This case study delves into the experiences of a prominent Taiwanese plastics company, boasting a workforce of 10,000 employees and a significant presence in the United States. The primary objective of this company was to elevate its physical security measures, employee verification processes, and entry/exit tracking at workplace entrances, all while harmonizing with its pre-existing LenelS2 OnGuard access control system. Furthermore, the organization was confronted with the challenge of streamlining the management of professional training and certificates, as well as verifying work permits to maintain adherence to regulatory requirements.

Challenges

Operating a substantial chemical plant for plastic production entails inherent dangers, necessitating stringent physical security to ensure that personnel access only authorized work zones. Compliance errors are not a viable option for business managers, as they can result in severe penalties or, worse, pose risks of accidents that could lead to injuries or fatalities. The company’s substantial investments in employee training and certification become particularly complex due to the daily task of monitoring certificate expiration dates and renewal periods. These complexities are exacerbated for security teams when employees misplace or forget their security badges or when accessing credentials is hindered by heavy-duty work attire.
